After BI install SIA and Tomcat could not start with service account.

Hi BO Gurus,

 

I want to install BO child node (Expand the parent install)

 

Client IT prepared a system with MS Server 2012 with Windows 8 as OS, and assigned a Service Account for me.

I gave service account following permissions -

  • Act as a part of operating system
  • log on as a batch
  • log on as a service

 

After this I rebooted the system and logged in with Service Account credentials. Started the installer, performed custom/expand install.

the install was successful.

 

When I opened CCM, both Tomcat and SIA are running under 'localsystem' account.

I want them to run under service account --> i sopped SIA and changed credentials in 'Log on as' box under SIA properties.--> Click on 'apply' and 'OK'

 

When I go on and start SIA I get following error -

' The Service did not start due to log on failure'.

 

The same service account runs services on 3 other BO boxes including parent node of the above install and 2 other DS boxes and everything apart from this machine works exactly fine.

 

Please help!

Hi Priya,

 

There must be a posibility for this, according to my logic User ID are unique in nature.

Let us take an example to clarify this:

 

Employee - X is working with organization from 01.01.2013 - 30.04.2014 and he left, so now company is not going to pay the licence fee for his life time because he is no more a valid user. In the similar way they are many a companies whose attration rate is 20+% percentage of its actual head count on quarterly basis.

 

If they are going to pay for 100 user licence no one opts SAP. So there must be a way/ solution for which many of us don't know the answer till we actually dig into the reality.

 

As suggested by Kedar above, You can change the name in SU01 for an User as shown below:

And also check the tab Logon Data where we have fields like valid from & valid to as shown below:

I strongly believe this deals about the Licence period, like RAMYA is valid from 01.01.2013 valid to 30.04.2014 (Delimit licence) from which you can use this licence to another user like HR1.

 

Check with your basis / security consultant who is a senior you can find a solution for this.

Have you checked if your source system in RSA1 is correct? Are the RFCs working in both directions? Are WE20/WE21 maintained correctly?

Only users which are valid and not locked are taken in account for license fees.

Are you ready to pay the license cost for one user from your own pocket ?

 

People won't pay when don't use (Basic Business Logic), If you compel/ force they choose something else ......

SAP Sourcing/CLM is the official SAP On Premise solution for Strategic Sourcing and CLM, and as you mentioned Ariba is the cloud counterpart.

 

Ariba OnPremise is not being sold as a net new offering but instead is providing releases and fixes, purely from a maintenance point of view. New functionality is implemented based on a customer driven functionality perspective. This service is provided to existing customers only.

Hi Anand,

 

I hope you are asking this wrt.  GTS system.

 

The solution to the above query will involve the use of MS excel along with the SAP GTS  Table /sapsll/pntpr. First , try to find out the all the 10 Character products by taking a dump from the above mentioned table and refining it with excel sheet. Then, you can try to find the 13 AND 15 Character products related to the above 10 Character Products with the use of Wildcard "*" symbol after your 10 Character Products name in the above mentioned table and then refining 13 or 15 Character Products with the help of excel sheet again.

 

I hope this was the required stuff. For more, please feel free to ask.

Hi Praneeth,

 

You have understood the requirement correctly but the problem is my client has very limited demand with T&EM. there is no recruitment and appraisal. He just want to capture in the system the recurring training needs, later on which he wants to provide training. I can use limited options here so was looking out for the best and easy option. Moreover, yes I agree I need to do lot of homework but I need to deliver this in 2 days. Please suggest something.

For SAP HANA on SLES exists a command to show the system status in a manner that shows parent -> child processes and how they belong to each other.

Hi SK,

Can you explain more what exactly you are facing with standard PCR XPPF or XPP1.

 

For New Hire in mid of month there wont be any split, cause the partial period will be one.

Example employee hired on 21st if April there will be one WPBP With start date 21.04.2014 to 30.04.2014.

 

Run payroll for mid hire employee and check. The proration will happen without changing any PCR.
